This course explores the issues that may arise for the birth children of foster parents. The course also offers advice to foster parents on the difference between managing the behaviour of their birth children and foster children and how best to support their birth children through the fostering experience.
The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:
To know the challenges and dilemmas faced by birth children and the possible change in culture
To know how managing looked-after children’s behaviour is different to managing birth children’s
To be aware of the relationships with fostered children
To look at the issues surrounding placement endings
This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
