This course is a comprehensive guide to helping children and young people build body confidence. The course explains what is meant by body confidence and other related issues such as self-esteem. There are useful tips and pieces of advice for how to help young people build their self-confidence and cope with bullying.
The learning objectives are as follows:
To know what body confidence is
To understand body confidence, self-esteem, and mental health
To understand the importance of learning to love yourself
To understand the power of words
To be aware of the difficulties of living in a world obsessed with the media and the distortion of beauty
To understand the concept of ‘the real me’ and inner beauty
To address sexuality, gender, and disabilities
To be aware of bullying about appearance
To be aware of teasing at home – from banter to bullying
To understand parent-child communication
To understand the importance of a healthy diet and the benefits of physical activity
This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
