This course is a comprehensive guide to understanding Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). The course explains what DoLS is, where it originated from, and how it is interlinked to the Mental Capacity Act. The course further explores some potential problems with DoLS, but ultimately highlights that DoLS is the law, and must be followed. Finally, the course offers advice on how to make an assessment under the Mental Capacity Act, whilst ensuring that any decisions are in best interest with the person falling under a DoLS.
