This course will explore the phenomena of county lines and criminal exploitation of children. Included in this training is an explanation of the traditional drug markets as well as newer “county lines”. The course explore the vulnerabilities of young people caught up in these emerging markets and will examine how recruitment is facilitated. It will also look at different issues within local communities. The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To know what ‘county lines’ are
  2. To understand traditional drug markets
  3. To understand vulnerabilities and indicators
  4. To know the context of criminal exploitation
  5. To know the barriers to engagement
  6. To understand the importance of language
  7. To identify how major drug dealers control the lines into rural drug markets
  8. To understand how major drug dealers organise and supply these markets
  9. To look at how vulnerable individuals are groomed, coerced, and forced into assisting them
  10. To be aware of the impact these county lines have on local communities

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
