This course is a comprehensive guide to understanding the purpose of a fostering panel and how they are used to protect some of society’s most vulnerable children and young people. The course explains the responsibilities of a fostering panel, how one is established, and who is who on the panel. Furthermore, the course breaks down the steps of a fostering assessment, from the Initial Visit through to Reflective Practice.
The learning objectives are as follows:
To have an understanding of the underpinning legislation, guidance, and standards
To understand the fostering “task”
To know who is who in the fostering panel
To understand an assessment of a foster carer
To know what critical thinking and reflective practice are
To understand fostering panel meetings
This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
