This course has been designed for people who work with children and want to understand the importance of leadership in safeguarding. The course explains the role of the Designated Safeguarding Person and the leadership responsibilities everyone who works with children have. The course also goes through the basics of safeguarding, including the key laws to be aware of and the signs and symptoms of neglect, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. 

The learning objectives are as follows:

• To know what safeguarding means 
• To understand the importance of leadership in safeguarding
• To be aware of relevant legislation
• To understand the history of safeguarding
• To know what the four domains of abuse are
• To understand what happens if a child makes a disclosure

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
