Supporting Boys And Young Men Affected By Child Sexual Exploitation And Abuse Leaving Care

Level 1 Country: UK

If you have large groups of learners requiring this training we encourage the use of online training.

Description & Learning objectives

Statistics consistently report that boys are less likely to be sexually exploited, but is this really the case? This course takes a critical view of gender roles and stereotypes of boys and young men which lead professionals to miss children, delay protection, or assume that the boys are gang members rather than being sexually exploited.

This course will also explore the impact sexual abuse has on boys and young men and will discuss the evidence for techniques to support boys and young men after sexual exploitation.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  • To understand the way gender roles are affecting the identification and response to exploitation
  • To understand the specific impact on boys and young men
  • To be aware of the stereotypes and bias in male abuse victims
  • To know the techniques to support boys and young men affected by exploitation

This course is CPD accredited and is specifically for anyone working within the Leaving Care sector. It is also tailored to where you live in the UK, adhering to each country’s own individual regulators - namely: Ofsted, The Care Inspectorate (Wales), The Care Inspectorate (Scotland), and The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (Northern Ireland).

If you have 5 or more learners who require this training, you might like to consider our face-to-face option instead.

Because each of our courses is created by a specialist within this sector, we have the expertise to tailor any course to your specific needs. You can even arrange for your own documentation policies or procedures to be included in your Learning Management System.
