This course is a guide to understanding the roles and responsibilities of the Supervising Social Worker (SSW). The course will consider what the SSW needs in order to maintain effective supervision and highlight what carers expect from SSWs. The course will also highlight some of the struggles faced between SSWs and foster carers.
The learning objectives are as follows:
To know what the standards, guidance, and regulations say
To understand the duties of the Supervising Social Worker (SSW)
To know the SSW’s role and responsibility
To understand the interface between social work and foster care
To be aware of the challenges faced by both supervising social workers and foster carers
To know what support supervising social workers need to be effective in their role
This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
